Square Froot

September 2017
Design Problem: As a final senior project, I was to create 3D product package design for a food or home product. Of the criteria, the main focus was to be on sustainability and recyclability. The product was up to choice, but it was required for the item to have at least three variations of sizes or flavors.
Concept: The product I chose was an organic, naturally sweetened juice beverage, called Square Froot. Primarily marketing to younger children and their parents. A unique feature of all its packaging involves the use of food safe TPU plastic reservoir bladders instead of PET bottles or glass. TPU plastics are 100% recyclable, dishwasher safe and immediately reusable, which could drastically slow our dependence on single-use plastics. The design would also feature informational math games and activities printed on the back, to engage children as they eat and drink.
Square Froot would come in three size options; a Family Size 5L Totebox, a 1L bottle, and a smaller 1/5L bottle. Early Prototype were made for presentation and material versatility. The cardboard shell would be structurally supportive and minimally wasteful.
